The Story Behind Pink Pearl Homemade

When I think about where Pink Pearl Homemade began, my mind doesn’t go to a bakery or a business plan. It goes back to my great-grandmother, Berneice Pearl, and a tiny bunny-shaped pie tin.

I was still small enough to sit in a high chair when she handed me my very own rolling pin and a bit of pie crust. I pressed the dough into that little tin, filled it with blueberry filling, and proudly baked what became my very first dessert — a blueberry bunny pie. Looking back, I think that’s when something special began to grow in me: the joy of creating something with my hands and sharing it with others. Even if at first the passion was making desserts I could eat!

In our family, baking was never just about food. It was about tradition, love, and togetherness. Every December, our freezer filled up with boxes and boxes of Christmas cookies — trays of sugar cookies from my Great Great Aunt Ina’s recipe, holiday bars, rum balls, russian tea cookies, and countless sweet treasures. Not only did we get to eat these wonderful treats, but we also shared them with our whole family.

My great-grandmother didn’t just teach me to bake — she taught me to make. From cooking and canning to sewing and crocheting to knitting and every homemaker skill you could imagine, my gram believed that if you could read, you could learn to do anything. She showed me how to rewire lamps, encouraged me to paint, and gave me the courage to make bold choices in creating a home. That spirit of curiosity and creativity is woven into everything I do.

The name Pink Pearl is more than a pretty phrase. It’s a legacy. It honors the woman who raised me, whose surname was Pearl, and whose love shaped my life. I even carry her name in my own — Julia Anne Pearl Morris. Every cookie I bake and every handmade treasure I craft carries a piece of that legacy forward.

So what is Pink Pearl Homemade? It’s more than a porch stand with cookies, savory delights, and handmade gifts. It’s a place where tradition meets whimsy, where comfort meets creativity, and where every creation is crafted with love + joy. I call it whimsical comfort — the feeling of a cookie that tastes like home, or a handmade gift that makes someone smile.

From our little house to yours, welcome to Pink Pearl Homemade. I’m so glad you’re here at the beginning of this journey, and I can’t wait to share the sweet things ahead.

Love + Joy,

Julia
